Clare is the University's Enterprise Champion and is responsible for designing and delivering enterprise learning provision.
Clare is an IEEP Fellow, a 3EP Fellow, an HEA Fellow and a Senior Enterprise Fellow.
Since 2008 Clare has been the MMU Enterprise Champion. She leads the NW HE Enterprise Champions project within MMU that aims to increase levels of early stage entrepreneurial activity among graduates and build capacity for entrepreneurship support across the university.
Clare also manages a team to deliver a portfolio of leadership development programmes, including the successful LEAD programme. She has a decade of experience of developing and growing businesses, their people and their leaders. She has designed and delivered a range of bespoke leadership and management development programmes aimed at both developing and established business leaders. In the last five years Clare has supported 100+ business leaders to analyse and diagnose their leadership and management challenges and to identify sustainable strategies to improve their performance..She is currently the Academic Director of the 10,000 Small Business Programme.
Clare’s PhD thesis (funded by the ESRC) examined NHS Managers’ views of performance management, performance appraisal and pay reform. Drawing upon evidence from survey research of six hundred and twelve senior and middle managers in eleven NHS organisations in the North West of England, her research examined the views of managerial employees to the policies of performance management, performance appraisal, and pay.
