Dilani is currently working on an ESRC research project developing lifecourse models to explain income from self-employment. Her core research interest is in the areas of business start-up, start-up finance and entrepreneurship and she is particularly interested in quantitative research.
Dilani lectures in quantitative methods for undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. She is the Unit Leader for Quantitative Methods for Business (undergraduate level), Quantitative Research Methods for the PhD programme and Co-Editor of International Journal of Entrepreneurship Behaviour and Research.
In 2002, Dilani joined Centre for Enterprise as a Business Analyst and has worked on ERDF (European Regeneration Development Fund) and ESF (European Social Fund) projects. During this time she has assisted small firms in the region to implement ISO quality standards. In 2005 she became the NES (New Entrepreneur Scholarship) Research Fellow in the Centre and was a key player in the NES evaluation study.
