The Centre for Enterprise works formally and informally with lead academics in the UK and internationally to create new knowledge in key areas. This includes membership of international research bodies for innovation and enterprise and exploring the role of gender in leadership and in the use of technology.

The Centre welcomes partner work, developing relationships with a range of business and third sector bodies to explore opportunities for knowledge creation and development. Individually CFE personnel are part of boards, assessment teams and professional associations to help bring research into a wider society and to increase impact.

Professor Lynn Martin is a member of the ISBE board, and was previously a board member of the Prowess association and of the Midlands World Trade Forum.
