Research
Thesis Title: The role of business incubators in developing and sustaining entrepreneurship
Her PhD project looks into the role of business incubators in developing and sustaining entrepreneurship. This study aims to answer the following research questions: how do business incubators (BIs) help nascent entrepreneurs acquire the knowledge and skills to start their own businesses? What is the role of business incubators in creating a “community of practice” amongst incubatees? It is also expected that completion of this research project will help to develop a framework for academics and practitioners in their assessment of BI’s quality in terms of administrative effectiveness and economic efficiency. The findings will also inform policy makers in terms of enhancing entrepreneurship. This will help provide a better service for nascent entrepreneurs.
Other projects:
“Mapping Corporate Europe” Project (2006)
Research was conducted in the field of financial performance, strategy effectiveness, level of internationalisation, and organisation structure of the top 50 UK companies.
“Credentialism” Project (2006)
The project investigates a set of perspectives from both the employer’s and the employee’s point of view, for instance, how credentialism works in a modern labour market and what signals credentials give to a potential employer.
“Online Grocery Shopping and Consumer Behaviour” Project (2004-2005)
The study provided insights into grocery shopping behaviour in the UK. A survey was conducted to find out more about grocery shoppers’ experience and attitudes toward on/offline grocery shopping, the benefits and drawbacks of online grocery shopping and provided suggestions for the retailers about how to improve and encourage online grocery shopping.
