Joseph is a regular external contributor at MMU's Business School on business leadership and growth programmes.
He has been in private equity since 1994. During this time he has completed investments across a broad range of sectors including food, media, facilities management and healthcare. Joseph also has extensive experience of investing in international businesses as a director in the 3i European buyout team based in Munich and then Frankfurt between 1999 and 2003. He was a member of the Supervisory board of Knuerr AG, a €200m turnover electronics business with manufacturing operations in Germany, Brazil, the United States and the Czech republic, acquired by 3i in a Public to Private transaction in 2000 and sold to Emerson (a US business) in 2006.
Joseph has a strong investment track record with some of the highlights including MDC Technology (sold for an 8x return in 5 years), Bison Bede (a stair-lift manufacturer sold to Domus Homecare for a 3x return in 2 years) and TDX (a consumer debt management business where there was a 10x return on his investment). Prior to working in private equity Joseph worked for HSBC, ICI and Astra Zeneca. Joseph has recently joined YFM Equity Partners, a private equity business with £375 million of funds under management. YFM Equity Partners is targeting new investment opportunities of up to £10m into UK businesses.
Joseph has an MBA with distinction from London Business School and is a graduate in History/Politics from the University of Exeter. He lives in Cheshire with his wife and three boys.
