Susan Marlow is Professor Entrepreneurship in the Department of HRM at De Montfort University, Leicester; her research interests focus upon labour management in small firms and the impact of gender upon self employment.
Having researched and published extensively in these areas, Susan Marlow has undertaken research projects for the Economic and Social Research Council, the European Union, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Barclays Bank, PROWESS (Promoting Women’s Enterprise Support) and the Home Office.
Current research interests focus upon the interaction between gender and high technology start-ups, incubation issues, failure and closure and institutional influences upon female entrepreneurship.
Susan Marlow has visited California State University and Washington University as a Professor in Entrepreneurship and Simmons College, Boston as Entrepreneurship Scholar. She has also spoken on BBC Radio 4 on a number of occasions to discuss the impact of gender upon entrepreneurship and employment.
Susan Marlow is Co-Editor for the International Small Business Journal, Vice President for Research for the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Member of the ACCA Small Business Council.
